Cognitive Psychology Section

Joining and benefits

How to join

Membership of Cognitive Section is open to all Society members. Details of how you may become a member are fully explained on the BPS web site, Membership section.

Benefits of joining

  • Reduced registration rates for the Section's Annual Conference.
  • Reduced cost of books resulting from selected section-sponsored meetings
  • Opportunity to voice your opinion, either at the Section's AGM, and/or by becoming a member of the Section Committee.

Membership

Standard membership currently costs £15, and Student membership is £5, which is excellent value considering that membership more than pays for itself - the reduction in Section conference registration fees when you become a member is far greater than the membership fee

If you are already a member of the British Psychological Society and you want to become a member of the Cognitive Section, please download the Cognitive Section membership form and send return it to the society by post to:

British Psychological Society, PO Box 87, Oakengates DO, TF3 3WT.

Member announcement list

The Cognitive Psychology section provides a national forum for discussion of research and matters of concern to cognitive psychologists. Our membership comprises psychologists in industry, the health service and government departments, in addition to all colleges and universities. Their interests cover most aspects of cognitive psychology and related areas.

Reduced registration fees are available to Section member at conferences and special workshops organised by the Section, including an annual conference. Recent activities have included conferences on reading and dyslexia, imagery, laterality, student learning; and workshops on problem solving, hemisphericity, and mind and language. Now the Cognitive Section has established an announcement mail-list to improve communication with members.
