Dear all

Welcome to the Division of Health Psychology microsite. The microsite includes lots of information about health psychology – for example, our downloadable leaflets.

You will also find details of upcoming events and activities in our devolved nations.

We update members regularly through our member announcement email list. If you are a member but not receiving those emails, log into the BPS website and change your email preferences.

Please do contact us with queries – we are more than happy to talk to members or potential members.

Best Wishes

What is health psychology? The goal of health psychology is to study scientifically the psychological processes of health, illness and health care. The aim is to apply health psychology to the promotion and maintenance of health, the analysis and improvement of the health care system and health policy formation, the prevention of illness and disability and the enhancement of outcomes of those who are ill or disabled. In addition there is a common purpose within health psychology of developing professional skills in research, consultancy and teaching and training.

The Division of Health Psychology (DHP) promotes the professional interests of health psychologists.

DHP Strategic Objectives

The Division of Health Psychology aims to promote health psychology and the interests of Members of the Division in their activities in health psychology. As a division we work closely with Sections, Special Groups and other Divisions of the British Psychological Society (BPS), and, where appropriate, collaborate with other organisations and individuals with similar interests in the pursuit of promoting health psychology. The committee's current specific aims and objectives are available here.
