DoN Update March 2017

Welcome. This is the first monthly news and research update that the DoN will be publishing to division members. The purpose of this update is to provide a brief and usable summary of relevant publications and to keep you informed of the work that the DoN is doing on behalf of the profession.

Update from the Chair of the DoN

The DoN Membership Services Unit is in the process of finalising this year's programme of CPD events. Responding to feedback from DoN members, we are organising a range of meetings which we hope will cater to a range of differing tastes and needs! In addition we are seeking to collaborate and coordinate with sister neuroscience organisations and other BPS Divisions.

Professor Gus Baker and I will be participating in a symposium on The Future of Neuropsychiatry and Related Disciplines at the anniversary annual meeting of The British Neuropsychiatry Association, 22 February 2017 at The Royal College of Surgeons, London

Dr Fergus Gracey, Professor Paul Burgess, Dr Sarah MacPherson and Dr Emmanuelle Volle will be speaking at a symposium on Executive Functioning jointly convened by the DoN and The British Neuropsychological Society 17 March 2017 at the Clinical Neurosciences Centre, 33 Queen Square, London. http://www.the-bns.org/meetings.html

The DoN Paediatric Faculty is hosting a meeting in Glasgow also on 17 March 2017 on Paediatric Epilepsy convened by Dr Liam Dorris http://beta.bps.org.uk/events/don-faculty-paediatric-neuropsychology-2017-symposium-paediatric-epilepsy

The DoN is hosting a joint workshop with the Division of Occupational Psychology at the BPS Annual Conference 5 May 2017 in Brighton on Rehabilitation and Return to Work. Professor Jon Evans and Dr Andy Tyerman are representing the DoN whilst Professor Martin Seligman is the workshop discussant

Professor Huw Williams and Dr Rudi Coetzer are arranging a joint DoN symposium at The International Neuropsychological Society meeting 10-12 July 2017 in Cape Town on Neurodisability in Vulnerable Young People

Two bespoke CPD days are being arranged for June and November 2017 at The National Council for Voluntary Organisations, London on Service Management Issues in Clinical Neuropsychology and Functional Neurological Disorders at what we intend will be competitive booking rates

Finally, the DoN Annual Conference and AGM are moving to January, when venue hire prices are more competitive, and the January 2018 meeting will be a DoN Networking event

Details of all events will be appearing on the DoN website as each event is finalised.
